REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir said Indonesia Sport Summit (ISS) 2025 is Indonesia's momentum in optimizing the potential of the sports industry. Erick said the event was attended by various stakeholders, ranging from various ministries, agencies, state-owned enterprises, and private companies in strengthening the ecosystem of the country's sports industry.
“Each ministry, we will deregulate so that as I presented yesterday it will prove that this deregulation will increase economic growth up to 0.78 percent,” Erick said during a press meeting with MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman and Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza during the Indonesia Sport Summit 2025 event at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, Sunday (7/12/2025).
Erick is fully committed to delivering regulation that supports the growth of the national sports industry sector. This he realized by repealing the Regulation of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Permenpora) Number 14 of 2024 on the Standards of Management of Sports Organizations in the Scope of Performance Sports.
“So if we now grow 5-5.5 (percent). If all of this makes a breakthrough, it could go directly up by six percent, not to mention the president's now massive government spending,” Erick said.
Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza said the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) supported Kemenpora in improving the national sports industry. Faisol said that the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Education are discussing the rules regarding the licensing of sports equipment products as well as sports apparel products.
“So SNI, the certification of this product will be issued technically by Kemenpora, following its TKDN,” Faisol said.
Faisol said the rules are under comprehensive review. Faisol said the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Agriculture will announce the rules in the near future.
“So friends who wear tracksuits, who want to buy sportswear, will later have to check whether this corresponds to the TKDN value issued by Kemenpora or not, and has SNI status or not,” Faisol said.
Faisol explained that the licensing rules for sporting goods products are aimed at supporting the production of the national sports industry. Faisol hopes the effort also fosters public awareness of local sporting products.
“So in the end it comes back to our awareness that we have to buy products that are produced by domestic industries,” Faisol continued.
Faisol appreciated the steps of Kemenpora which played an active role in supporting the development of the national sports industry. The Ministry of Industry, Faisol continued, also previously applied the TKDN rule to Apple at the request of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, which is currently named the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi).
“Now the same thing is done in Kemenpora. It will be a lesson to all of us that those technical ministries are key to strengthening local markets for national industries,” Faisol said.
