President Prabowo: China is Indonesia's Largest Trading Partner

President Prabowo Subianto gave a speech while attending Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 held by Kadin Indonesia Committee of China in Jakarta, Saturday (24/5/2025). The event, attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and dozens of Chinese businessmen, was to strengthen the two countries' business ties. On the same occasion, a memorandum of understanding of strategic cooperation between Indonesia and The China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (CCCI) was also signed.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Prabowo Subianto confirmed that China is Indonesia's largest trading partner. This was stated at the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 event organized by Kadin Indonesia Committee of China at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Saturday (24/5/2025) evening.

“Our trade with China exceeds $130 billion every year. We view China as a very important partner in industrial and technological development,” Prabowo said in his speech.

Prabowo highlighted the role of Chinese companies that have contributed to a number of major projects in Indonesia, such as the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, industrial zone development, and other technology and infrastructure projects.

He said that the relationship in the areas of trade, investment and technology is a tangible manifestation of the two countries' commitment to building a stronger and more environmentally friendly future.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Chinese companies that have participated in our economy, created jobs, made technology transfers, and built trust among business players, especially in Indonesia,” Prabowo said.

The president-elect also said that he had met with many Chinese business leaders and saw their sincerity in adapting to the conditions in Indonesia.

“They are very open in listening to our difficulties and interests. Again, thank you. It is a great honor today to be able to stand before your brothers and sisters. It marks our more confident step into the future,” he said.
