REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAJALENGKA -- The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, led directly the National Harvest in Randegan Wetan Village, Jatijuh District, Majalengka Regency, Monday (7/4/2025). The activity was part of a simultaneous harvest in 14 provinces and 157 districts/cities, as a strategic move by the government to strengthen national food security.

The BPS Sample Area Framework (KSA) data records that, by April 2025, the potential national harvest area reached 1,595,583 hectares. The estimated production amounted to 8,631,204 tons of milled dry grain (GKG) or equivalent 4.97 million tons of rice. Cumulatively, January—April 2025 production recorded 13,948,785 tonnes GKG, the highest figure in seven years.

Prabowo also expressed his appreciation and pride for the achievement. He believes that this is the result of the hard work of farmers as well as synergies across sectors. He also emphasized that success was not merely a technical achievement, but also a moral and social success.

“I would like to thank all the elements that have worked hard, the ministers, the army commander, the police, the government, and of course the farmers. The farmer brothers are the backbone of the nation. Without food, there is no country. Without food, there is no NKRI,” Prabowo said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his happiness because during Ramadan and Eid this year, food prices are controlled, stable, and affordable. He judged that the success was the fruit of the real work of the entire government and farmers in all corners of the country.

“Many countries are currently short of rice, food prices are looming. Even in the richest countries, eggs are scarce. But we, thank God, are now exporting eggs and the price is coming down. This is thanks to the hard work of all parties. This is the result of our sensible policy and our sincerity to defend the people,” Prabowo said.

As is known, there are 14 major provinces that accounted for nearly 91.42 percent of national production this month. Namely, West Java, East Java, Central Java, Banten, Yogyakarta, South Sumatra, Aceh, Lampung, Sumut, Kalbar, Kalteng, Kalsel, NTB, and Sulsel.

With a harvest area of 1.43 million hectares and a production of 7.89 million tonnes of GKG, the region became the backbone of national production. East Java became the largest contributor, followed by West Java and Central Java. Outside of Java, the highest contributions came from Sulsel, Lampung, and NTB.
