REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- FC Twente player Mees Hilgers has arrived in Bali and is ready to attend the training session of the Indonesian national team on the third day. This certainty was obtained through Instagram Stories of the Indonesian national team, Wednesday (28/5/2025), which featured Hilgers already at the fitness center where the Garuda team underwent training.

He greeted a number of players such as Stefano Lilipaly, Joey Pelupessy, and Dean James, as well as two physical trainers Quentin Jacoba (coach) and Sofie Priest (assistant). Mees's arrival brings the total of players currently in Bali to 26, after earlier on the second day it was known that 25 players had taken part in training.

If given the chance to play by Kluivert, Hilgers will add to his caps in a team that has now bagged three caps, with the last match in Sydney being defeated 1-5 by Australia in March. In the match against Bahrain, Hilgers was unable to play due to injury.

Meanwhile, on the second day, Garuda's team arrived three players, Calvin Verdonk, Justin Hubner, and debutant player Beckham Putra. The number of players joining is still six short of the total of 32 names called up by Patrick Kluivert for the final two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifying third round in June.

The six names that have yet to join are Jay Idzes, Kevin Diks, Maarten Paes, Sandy Walsh, Jordi Amat, and Eliano Reijnders. Of those six players, Sandy is rumored to have suffered an injury he sustained while playing for Yokohama F Marinos. Jordi, on the other hand, is rumored to be in Bali, but in the first two training sessions of the national team, the 33-year-old central defender has not been able to attend training sessions.

When met by media crews in the inaugural training session at Bali United Training Center, Sukawati, Gianyar Regency, Bali on Monday, Kluivert said, “So maybe I'll call another player, we never know,” he said of the possibility of calling up other players to replace those injured.

The Indonesian national team will play against China in the match to be played at Gelora Bung Karno Utama Stadium, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/6/2025) at 20:45pm. After the match against China, the Garuda team will play away against the champion of the group that has already ensured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Japan, at Suita Stadium on Tuesday (10/6/2025) at 17:35pm.
